NFL Rumors: Houston Texans Won't Pursue Lamar Jackson
Count the Houston Texans among the many, many teams who have taken themselves out of the Lamar Jackson sweepstakes. Per NBC Houston's Aaron Wilson, the team will instead focus on the draft to find their quarterback of the future.
#Texans are indeed not expected to pursue #Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, per league sources, as focus is on #NFLDraft quarterback prospects, including visits with Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Will Levis, Anthony RIchardson, Hendon Hooker https://t.co/IDLjIFkI1q

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson recently declared his desire to be traded from the team that drafted him, partly due to the Ravens' unwillingness to offer a fully-guaranteed deal. Unfortunately for him, the Ravens aren't alone in that. The Colts, Commanders, Panthers, and Patriots are all logical fits who have already publicly distanced themselves from the 2019 MVP.
The Texans hold the second overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft and clearly have decided that's where they'll find their franchise passer. Given the lively debate over who is the top passer in the class, it's possible they'll even end up with their top choice. That could be Bryce Young. It could be C.J Stroud. It could even be a surprise or a late riser. Time will tell.
