New York Jets Restructure Contract Of Star Tight End
The New York Jets had a fantastic 2022 off-season, bringing in several starters in free agency as well as some future superstars in the draft, and now they aim to replicate that as they look to finally end their 12-year playoff drought.
To do that though, they'll need the salary cap space to make some big moves, and on Wednesday, they made the solid move of converting $4.5M of tight end C.J. Uzomah's salary into a bonus, which will clear up to $3.6M in cap space for this off-season.
A year after signing a big contract, Uzomah put up just 21 catches for 232 yards and 2 Touchdowns, but with a potential upgrade at Quarterback coming, 2023 could be the year that Uzomah and Tyler Conklin break out in a big way.The #Jets converted $4.5 million of TE C.J. Uzomah's salary into a bonus, clearing $3.6M in cap space.
