New York Giants Sign Former Jets Speedy Wide Receiver
Former New York Jets wide receiver Jeff Smith is now officially a member of the New York Giants.
After the Jets did not tender him as a restricted free agent, Smith hit the open market for just over 24 hours before signing with the Giants.

The speedy receiver has spent his entire four-year career with the Jets, catching 34 passes for 426 yards and posting a 77-yard effort in a Week 15 game against the Lions last season.
However, Smith's role on the team has steadily declined over the last three seasons, with his highest target count in a single season being just 37.
UPDATE: Speedy wide receiver Jeff Smith signed a one-year, 1.2 million dollar deal with the New York #Giants with up to 300 thousand dollars in incentives, his agent Garriet Blair of GMB Management Group tells @_MLFootball.

Smith can earn a max of 1.5 million dollars.

Now with the Giants, Smith will need to earn a spot on the 53-man roster during training camp.
However, his speed and experience in the NFL will likely make him an interesting prospect for the team to evaluate as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Entering his fifth NFL season, the 25-year-old has recorded 34 receptions on 67 targets for 426 yards (12.5 avg) and zero touchdowns across 36 games played.
