New England Patriots To Cut Veteran Quarterback

The New England Patriots have unsurprisingly fallen off since the departure of franchise legend Tom Brady, but they believe they've found their starter for the next decade in the form of Mac Jones, who made the Pro Bowl in his rookie campaign.

Given his struggles in 2022, it makes sense for them to keep a veteran on the roster as a backup for guidance as well as insurance, so it's come as a surprise that today the team are now expected to release veteran Brian Hoyer.

Hoyer was in his third stint with the Patriots, and while he's not shown the potential to be a genuine starter throughout his 14 year career in the NFL, he's the perfect backup for any team, so it's likely that he'll have a market when free agency hits.
