Houston Texans Re-Sign Underrated Cornerback

The Houston Texans have re-signed cornerback Tavierre Thomas to a one-year contract worth $3 million, according to reports.

The deal includes a fully guaranteed base salary of $1.5 million, as well as roster bonuses and incentives based on playing time.

Thomas had a solid PFF coverage grade of 75.0 last season, despite appearing in only 10 games due to a quadriceps injury that kept him out for the first seven weeks.

In those 10 games, Thomas recorded 41 tackles, one pass defended, and two forced fumbles. He is expected to continue playing a rotational role for the Texans in 2023.

Entering his sixth NFL season, the 27-year-old has recorded 174 total tackles, one sack, four forced fumbles, two interceptions and five passes defended across 72 games played.
