Detroit Lions Re-Sign Linebacker To Multi-Year Deal

The Detroit Lions have re-signed linebacker Alex Anzalone to a three-year, $18.75 million contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Anzalone, who has played for Detroit since 2021, has proven his worth as the team's starting middle linebacker with a career-high 125 tackles in the past season. Over his two seasons with the Lions, he has recorded 203 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.

The 28-year-old, originally a third-round pick by the Saints in 2017, has shown durability by being available for all 17 games in 2023.

Anzalone's role as a coverage linebacker is expected to continue as he takes on plenty of snaps in Detroit's defense over the course of his new contract.

Entering his seventh NFL season, Anzalone is coming off his best season, racking up 125 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interception and six passes defended across 17 games played.
