Denver Broncos Sign Former Bengals Running Back

A nice addition.

The Denver Broncos have signed running back Samaje Perine to a two-year contract worth $7.5 million, with the possibility of an additional $1 million in incentives.

Perine is coming off his best season in the NFL, where he recorded 394 rushing yards, 287 receiving yards, and six touchdowns. The 27-year-old was a reliable backup for the Cincinnati Bengals and will now join the Broncos' backfield, which also includes 2021 second-round pick Javonte Williams.

While Williams is expected to be the lead back for the Broncos, Perine's signing adds depth and competition to the position.

If Williams' recovery from a knee injury that landed him on IR last season is slow or if he struggles, Perine could see an increased role in the offense.

Perine has proven to be a reliable third-down back and could continue to fulfill that role for the Broncos.

It remains to be seen how the Broncos will use their new running back duo, but Perine's versatility and experience make him a valuable addition to the team.

Over his six-year career, Perine has rushed for 1,592 yards (4.0 avg), along with 736 receiving yards (7.3 avg) and 13 total touchdowns across 70 games played.
