Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson Undergoes Knee Surgery
The Denver Broncos are in the middle of a protracted mission to turn around their franchise after a disastrous 2022 season. To make that happen, they'll need to position their quarterback Russell Wilson for success, and that starts with getting him healthy. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the nine-time Pro Bowler recently underwent arthroscopic surgery to fix a lingering knee injury.
#Broncos QB Russell Wilson had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee following 2022, a procedure to fix an issue that had nagged him for a few seasons. He is back working out and throwing after the minor scope and should be fine for OTAs. He'll be at full health for 2023.

Wilson was famously atrocious in 2022, leading the Broncos to the fewest points scored in the league and a 5-12 record. However, Rapoport notes the injury dates back a few seasons. Wilson was a Pro Bowler every year from 2017 to 2021.
It would be convenient to blame an injury for Wilson's struggles in 2022, but the Broncos are likely dealing with deeper structural issues as well. Besides getting healthy, they'll more than likely have to improve their play-calling, roster, and chemistry. Hiring Sean Payton will hopefully take care of the play-calling; his New Orleans Saints featured consistently dominant offenses. The Broncos made concerted efforts to improve their roster in free agency, spending big on offensive linemen Mike McGlinchey and Ben Powers. As for chemistry, only time will tell.
