Dallas Cowboys Bring Back Talented Linebacker

The Dallas Cowboys have re-signed linebacker Leighton Vander Esch to a two-year deal worth $11 million, according to sources.

Vander Esch, who had missed 17 games over the past four seasons due to injuries, had a solid season in 2022 with 90 tackles, one sack, four tackles for loss, and a forced fumble in 14 regular season starts.

Despite not matching the 140 tackles he had as a rookie, Vander Esch remains an anchor for the Cowboys' defense as a run-stopping linebacker.

Over his five-year career, the 27-year-old has recorded 439 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, three interceptions and 13 passes defended across 66 games played.

He's a former first-round pick (19th overall) by the Cowboys in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys had a productive day on Tuesday as they also brought back safety Donovan Wilson and traded for All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
