Dallas Cowboy Re-Sign Running Back

The Dallas Cowboys have re-signed running back Rico Dowdle, according to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News.

Dowdle is expected to provide depth for the Cowboys' backfield, which now lacks Ezekiel Elliott.

However, with Tony Pollard currently dealing with an ankle injury and Malik Davis also in the mix, Dowdle may have a chance to earn more opportunities. That said, the team could still bring in additional running backs during the offseason.

Last season, Dowdle played in five games for the Cowboys, primarily contributing on special teams.

Health has been an issue for him in the past, so staying injury-free will be crucial for him to make an impact in Dallas.

With Elliott gone, the Cowboys' backfield is wide open, and Dowdle will have the opportunity to compete for a bigger role if he can stay healthy and impress the coaching staff.

Entering his third NFL season, the 24-year-old has rushed just seven times for 24 yards across 20 games played.
