Cleveland Browns to Sign Guard Wes Martin

The Cleveland Browns may have one of the best offensive lines in the league, but even they need depth. Per cleveland.com's May Kay Cabot, the team intends to sign former Washington Commanders guard Wes Martin.

Martin has appeared in 38 games over his four years in the NFL, starting 11. He entered the league as a fourth-round pick for the Commanders in the 2019 NFL Draft and has seen most of his action there, excluding a one-year stint with the New York Giants in 2021. He has struggled so far when pressed into service, earning Pro Football Focus overall grades between 40.3 and 51.7 in the three seasons he logged starts.

The Browns have perhaps the league's best guard tandem in Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller; both have earned Pro Bowls in each of the past two seasons, and they consistently pave the way for star running back Nick Chubb. If the Browns have their way, Martin will only see the field in training camp and preseason. He probably won't be guaranteed a 53-man roster spot.
