BREAKING: Indianapolis Colts Sign Former Eagles Quarterback

The Indianapolis Colts have made an intriguing move by signing former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Gardner Minshew to a one-year, fully guaranteed $3.5 million contract.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the deal could reach up to $5.5 million with incentives.
This move reunites Minshew with head coach Shane Steichen, who previously worked with the quarterback during their time in Philadelphia. Minshew's familiarity with Steichen's offensive system makes him an ideal fit for the Colts as they continue to build their roster through the draft.

The Colts hold the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL draft and are reportedly in the market for a franchise quarterback, but signing Minshew provides them with a high-quality backup or bridge quarterback while they develop their future signal-caller.

Entering his fifth NFL season, Minshew is still just 26 years old and holds a solid 62.8 completion percentage with 6,632 passing yards, 44 touchdowns and just 15 interceptions across 32 games played in his career.

By signing Minshew, the Colts now have a quarterback with NFL starting experience for the 2023 season, providing stability and depth to their quarterback position. This move also makes it unlikely that they will pursue a trade for Lamar Jackson, who they had been linked to in previous trade rumors.

In the 2022 season, Minshew recorded a 663-yard passing performance with 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in two starts, and added a rushing touchdown to his stats.

Overall, the signing of Gardner Minshew is an intriguing development for the Colts and will be worth watching as the new season approaches.
