49ers Free Agent Pass-Rusher Could Get Big Pay Day This Offseason

Samson Ebukam, the San Francisco 49ers defensive end, is generating buzz as a potential big payday in the upcoming free agency.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the former fourth-round pick could earn over $10 million per year. Ebukam, who signed a two-year deal with the 49ers in 2021, is coming off a career-high season with five sacks and 36 tackles.

Despite not being a household name, Ebukam has been a consistent player over his six years in the league, steadily improving each year. In total, he has recorded 23.5 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, 52 QB hits, eight forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries (one for a TD) in 96 games, 61 of which he started.

The 27-year-old outside linebacker played a crucial role in one of the league's best defensive units in 2022, but with the departure of defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans, it's uncertain what changes the team may make.

Additionally, the team faces difficult decisions on whether to bring back Jimmie Ward, a main piece of the 49ers secondary.

Regardless, Ebukam's consistent performance and improvement over the years have earned him recognition as a player with high potential in free agency. As the offseason progresses, it remains to be seen which team will make a move to secure his services for the 2023 season and beyond. Photo Credit: Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports
