San Francisco 49ers To Interview Former Panthers Head Coach For DC Role
The San Francisco 49ers had one of, if not the best defences in the entire NFL in 2022, but now after losing Defensive Coordinator DeMeco Ryans to the Head Coach role in Houston, they'll be looking for a veteran name to lead this group in 2023.
With plenty of options out there, today they'll be looking towards a veteran to fill the role, with former Carolina Panthers Interim Head Coach Steve Wilks getting an interview, which would give him more talent than he's potentially ever had as a coach.
The 53-year old veteran has been a coach in the NFL since 2006, and while his roles as Defensive Coordinator and Head Coach haven't lasted long, under the coaching of Kyle Shanahan, he could find himself in one of the best positions in the NFL.Former #Panthers interim coach Steve Wilks will interview on Monday for the #49ers DC job vacated by DeMeco Ryans, source said.
