The conversion of Maye's salary into a signing bonus frees up $4.756 million in cap space for the Saints, who enter 2023 a whopping $59 million over the cap.
The Saints will have their work cut out for them ahead of free agency, with this transaction being one of many ones to come.
Over 10 games last season in his Saints' debut, the twenty-nine-year-old recorded 60 total tackles, one forced fumble and two passes defended.
