Philadelphia Eagles Hire Sean Desai as New DC
The Philadelphia Eagles have the top of their coaching staff in place. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll revealed that associate head coach Sean Desai was leaving the team in order to fill the Eagles' defensive coordinator vacancy.

Desai joined the Seahawks in 2022 and contributed to a surprising Wildcard Round playoff berth, but that was largely due to their offense; the defense ranked 25th in points allowed and 26th in yards allowed. Before that, Desai coached for Chicago Bears defense in a variety of roles from 2013 to 2021, culminating in a defensive coordinator position in 2021. The Bears ranked sixth in yards allowed but 22nd in points allowed that season.
Desai doesn't have a particularly exciting resume as a coach, but the Eagles already have a successful, established formula in place on defense: they ranked first in passing yards allowed and net passing yards per attempt allowed in 2022 under DC Jonathan Gannon, who accepted a head coach position with the Arizona Cardinals earlier this season. At 39 years old, Desai is a relatively young coach, and he could likely help the Eagles maintain their momentum.
