NFL Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles Could Franchise Tag Star Safety
The Philadelphia Eagles were just moments away from winning Super Bowl LVII, but now they have to focus their energy on 2023, and the best way to do that is bring some key pieces back from this team, and as for one player, it appears the team have no intentions of letting him go.
That would be star safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who the team acquired ahead of the 2022 season, and while he may have started slow, he made a massive impact for the team that many considered the best in the NFL, and if the team can't come to a long term deal, it appears they're ready to place the franchise tag on him.
With so many players potentially on the way out in Philadelphia, getting Gardner-Johnson back would be best case scenario for this stacked defence, and if things go right for them again, there's no reason we don't see them in February again next year.#Eagles Safety CJ Gardner-Johnson will receive the franchise tag if he and the team can't reach a long-term deal, according to @caplannfl
