New Orleans Saints Restructure Star Defensive Back's Contract
The New Orleans Saints felt like they had the roster to compete for the NFC South crown in 2022, but unfortunately the performance wasn't there, and now they'll look to bring in some pieces this off-season to help them take that next step.
To do that, they'll certainly need some cap space, and on Friday, they reworked the contract of star defensive back Tryann Mathieu to clear almost $5M in space, and with one Derek Carr in their sights, this could make all the difference in the world.
If the team don't land Carr, there's plenty of other options out there that would help this improving young offence, but either way, this was a great move from the Saints front office and it shows they're ready to retool and compete in 2023.Saints Pick Up $4.67M Of Cap Room By Reworking Tyrann Mathieu's Deal https://t.co/IxdsJrSzmR pic.twitter.com/Q3IU4df6Od
