Los Angeles Chargers Unlikely To Pick Up 5th Year Option For Young Linebacker
The Los Angeles Chargers have been building a solid squad for a few years now, and while the emergence of Justin Herbert has been a big reason for their success, the same can't be said about 2020 first-round draft pick Kenneth Murray.
In three years, the young linebacker hasn't found the consistency that was expected of him coming out of Oklahoma, and he unfortunately hasn't been the impact player the Chargers expected when they took him at No. 23 overall in 2020.
Now, it appears very unlikely that the Chargers pick up his 5th year option, meaning that after the 2023 season, it looks like he'll become a free agent, unless something drastic changes in the next 12 months. The #Chargers "unlikely" to pick up the 5th-year option on LB Kenneth Murray, according to @danielrpopper
