Lombardi, a former assistant of Payton's in New Orleans, is set to reunite with him in Denver. Although his official title is yet to be determined, Klis has reported that it could be offensive responsibilities after his most recent stint as offensive coordinator of the L.A Chargers.
Lombardi's job was terminated by the Chargers after their loss this past postseason to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Prior to his Chargers gig, he spent five seasons as a quarterbacks coach for Payton's Saints and spent a season as OC for the Lions in 2014-15.
The 51-year-old, who is the grandson to legendary NFL head coach Vince Lombardi, will be looking to bring his experience of coaching the likes of Drew Brees and Justin Herbert to help reignite quarterback Russell Wilson after his recent disastrous season this past year.
