Denver Broncos to Interview Ronald Curry for Offensive Coordinator

New Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton is eyeing a reunion with an old friend. Per Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com, the Broncos will interview New Orleans Saints head coach Ronald Curry for their offensive coordinator vacancy.

Curry initially joined the Saints as an offensive assistant in 2016 while Payton was still head coach. Curry eventually worked his way up to wide receivers coach in 2018. He was moved to quarterbacks coach in 2021, Payton's last season with the team.

Curry was part of a Saints offense that finished in the top five for points scored in every season from 2016 to 2020 under Payton and future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees. Payton was hired to bring a little bit of that magic to the Broncos: the team ranked dead last in points scored in 2022.

Given that Payton is likely to call plays for the Broncos, whoever the Broncos tab as offensive coordinator will largely serve as a glorified assistant. Curry has established trust and an existing relationship with Payton; that's sufficient for being an ideal candidate. The Broncos will benefit from doing everything possible to rebuild the structure Payton created with the Saints.
