Ventrone was considered one of the best special teams coaches in the league and his special teams with the Indianapolis Colts consistently ranked in the top 10 over the past five seasons.
The Browns' special teams have been a liability in recent years, and Ventrone's expertise is expected to help the team turn things around.
Cleveland has suffered losses due to special teams errors, most notably their inability to recover an onside kick in Week 2, which ultimately led to a loss against the New York Jets.
Ventrone brings a wealth of experience to the position, having played for the Browns from 2009 to 2012 and then joined the coaching ranks in 2015 as an assistant special teams coach with the New England Patriots.
