Bears Wide Receiver Will Be "Getting A Lot Of Opportunities In 2023"

According to Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, wide receiver Chase Claypool is a player he could see "getting a lot of opportunities in 2023."

Getsy spoke about the trade deadline acquisition of Claypool, and the underwhelming results that occurred following it.

Claypool was traded to the Bears at the trade deadline in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick. In seven games with his new team, the twenty-four-year-old had 14 receptions for 140 yards and no touchdowns on 29 targets. However, this is kind of to be expected, given that he was dealing with injuries and trying to learn a new playbook.

Claypool exploded onto the scene in his rookie year with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020, hauling in 62 receptions for 873 yards and nine touchdowns over 16 games. He has yet to tie or beat those stats, despite coming close in receiving yards in 2021.

With a full offseason to learn the playbook and work on flaws in his game, it will be interesting to see what Justin Fields and Chase Claypool can do together in 2023.
