Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Confirms New DC Will Call Plays In 2023
The Arizona Cardinals struggled in a big way in 2022 under offensive minded Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury, and after an extensive search, they landed on former Eagles Defensive Coordinator Jonathan Gannon, who quickly hired Nick Rallis as the new Defensive Coordinator.
Gannon's former coordinator partner Shane Steichen has been clear in Indianapolis that he's calling plays for the team in 2023, but yesterday, the new Cardinals boss confirmed the opposite, as he will follow Nick Sirriani's lead in Philadelphia, as he confirmed he won't be calling the plays.
The responsibility now lays on the 29 year old first time Coordinator, but with Gannon helping him put game plans together, it's safe to say that every effort in the world will be put in to make sure that Rallis and this defence succeed in 2023.#Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon said he won't call defensive plays and will leave that for new DC Nick Rallis.

Taking the same approach as Nick Sirriani, who doesn't call offensive plays in Philadelphia. Feels like it gives the HC a better chance at focusing on the entire team.
