Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Approaching Franchise Record
Even if it falls short of the playoffs, the Seattle Seahawks 2022 season has been a pleasant surprise. Chief among the team's many startling successes is the emergence of quarterback Geno Smith as a viable franchise passer. In fact, if Smith can compile 151 passing yards today against the Los Angeles Rams, he will set a franchise record for passing yards in a season.
With just 151 passing yards today, Seahawks QB Geno Smith will set the record for the most passing yards in a single season in franchise history.

Currently, recent Seahawks great Russell Wilson holds the record with 4219 yards in 16 games in the 2016 season. Smith will have the benefit of an extra game due to NFL expanding its schedule to 17 games in 2021. He'll also have a chance to finish with the franchise record for completion percentage in a season, depending on today's game against the Rams.
Despite the advantage of an extra game, it's still surprising to see Smith etch his name in franchise history this quickly. Wilson was a nine-time Pro Bowler and led the team to its greatest sustained success. For Smith to even approach his level of play bodes well for the Seahawks' future: they're sitting on multiple high picks over the next few years from a struggling Denver Broncos franchise following last offseason's blockbuster trade of Wilson.
