Minnesota Vikings OC Phillips to Remain With Team
The Minnesota Vikings will have a chance to build on this season's offensive success in 2023. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, offensive coordinator Wes Phillips has turned down an opportunity to interview with the Los Angeles Chargers and intends to remain with the Vikings.
Phillips joined the Vikings in 2022 following three years as the Los Angeles Rams' tight ends coach. In his first year as offensive coordinator, he led the team to the eighth-most points in the league and the seventh-most yards gained, the Vikings' best finish in both categories since 2019.The #Chargers have requested to speak with #Vikings offensive coordinator Wes Phillips about their OC position, but Phillips plans to stay with Minnesota, per sources. Phillips highly valued there and Vikings building something he wants to see through.

Phillips may be new to the Vikings, but he has a long-standing relationship with head coach Kevin O'Connell. The two coached together with the Rams from 2020 to 2021 and with the Washington Commanders from 2017 to 2018. It makes sense for Phillips to preserve the relationship as long as he can, or at least until juicy head coaching offers begin rolling in.Photo Credit: © Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
