Injury Update on Tampa Bay Buccaneers Linebacker Shaq Barrett
Tensions are high around the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following a disappointing Wildcard Round playoff exit, but at least one player was able to offer an optimistic note for the 2023 season. Injured pass-rushing linebacker Shaquil Barrett expects to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Barrett tore his Achilles in the Bucs' Week 8 27-22 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He ended his season with 3.0 sacks and 31 total tackles in eight appearances. He has earned two Pro Bowls and notched 40.5 sacks over 54 appearances since joining the team in 2019.Shaq Barrett says his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon is coming along, expects to be healthy for the start of the 2023 season. The Bucs have already begun what promises to be a tumultuous offseason, so any good news on one of their stars is more than welcome. The team has already parted ways with several coaches, including offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich. Quarterback Tom Brady is also set to hit unrestricted free agency and reportedly considering leaving the team. When Barrett makes his return, it may be to a team he scarcely recognizes.
