Cleveland Browns Fire Defensive Coordinator Woods
The Cleveland Browns are making a significant change in their coaching staff. Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the team fired defensive coordinator Joe Woods Monday morning.
Following their 28-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 18, the Browns have finished their season a disappointing 7-10. Woods' defense ends the year with middling rankings of 20th in points scored, 14th in yards allowed, and 20th in takeaways. The #Browns relieved DC Joe Woods of his duties, per source. pic.twitter.com/RgeA8zue3K

Woods took over as DC for the Browns in 2020. He led them to a top-five finish in yards allowed in 2021, but the Browns have finished outside the top 20 in points allowed in his two other seasons in charge. It makes sense for the organization to try and find an upgrade elsewhere.
