Carolina Panthers Sign Quarterback

Bringing him back.

The Carolina Panthers have signed quarterback Jacob Eason to a reserve/future contract.

Eason was signed to the Panthers' practice squad after being cut by the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 53-man roster deadline. He then assumed backup duties behind PJ Walker after both Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold suffered injuries.

However, once Darnold returned from the injured reserve, Eason was cut by the Panthers, making him a free agent. He was then signed to the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad in November and stayed there until he was again cut in January.

Now, with his new deal, the twenty-five-year-old will rejoin the Panthers' organization and look to compete for a backup role this offseason.

For his career, spanning just two games, Eason has completed five of 10 pass attempts for 84 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions.

He is a former fourth-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in the 2020 NFL Draft.
