Panthers Release Quarterback
The two sides have come to a mutual agreement.
The Carolina Panthers quarterback reportedly asked for a release as he knew he was not in the team's plans moving forward.
The Panthers have granted the request and released quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Mayfield hitting waivers comes at an interesting time, as the San Francisco 49ers suddenly find themselves in need of a QB after Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a broken foot on Sunday. Although it's not ideal, the 49ers really have no other options, as right now their starting QB is Brock Purdy.
The twenty-seven-year-old Mayfield finishes his time with the Panthers with 1,313 passing yards, six passing touchdowns, and a completion percentage of 57.8 over seven games.
It will be interesting to see if the 49ers take a chance on Mayfield.
