The rookie linebacker could be looking at an extended absence.
Carolina Panthers linebacker Brandon Smith suffered an ankle injury during Sunday's win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Smith sustained the injury on a punt in the second half of the game and was not able to return, which is never a good sign.
It's obviously not yet clear whether the rookie will be ready to go for next week's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but we should get a further update in the coming days.
In the first 12 games of his career this season, the twenty-one-year-old has eight total tackles. Smith was the Panthers' fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
