Los Angeles Rams to Start Quarterback Wolford on TNF
The Los Angeles Rams will wait at least a little while before debuting their recently acquired passer. The team is poised to start quarterback John Wolford for their Thursday Night Football matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Wolford missed practice this week with a neck injury. He missed Weeks 11 and 12 with the ailment, forcing third-string quarterback Bryce Perkins to play in relief of starter Matthew Stafford.Full-team offense drill begins with Wolford taking snaps

Wolford's neck injury pushed the Rams to claim Baker Mayfield off of waivers on Tuesday and even entertain the possibility of starting him on a short week. But Wolford is willing to gut it out tonight, perhaps in the belief a solid performance could make the starting job his to lose over the remainder of the season. Opening-day starter Matthew Stafford is out for the season.
Wolford joined the Rams in 2019 after a forgettable rookie season with the New York Jets. He has been a mostly ineffective backup in four years with the Rams, winning one of his three starts and netting 561 passing yards on 114 dropbacks with one passing touchdown and five interceptions. He'll need to drastically improve on those numbers if he's going to hold off Mayfield over the next few weeks.
