Injury Update On 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell

He's been out since Week 12.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that running back Elijah Mitchell is on track with his recovery from an MCL sprain, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic.

Lombardi also noted that Mitchell is expected to occupy the 49ers' final injured reserve activation following Javon Kinlaw's recent activation from the IR.

Mitchell's original timeline was 6-8 weeks, so he is still in line to miss the rest of the regular season, but could make a return for the start of the 49ers' playoff run.

Before getting hurt, the twenty-six-year-old was playing well in an RB2 role behind Christian McCaffrey, rushing 40 times for 224 yards along with three receptions for seven yards.
