Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Confirms QB Change
The Atlanta Falcons had a solid start to the 2022 season, and coming out of the bye, they now find themselves in third place in the division, but with no one stepping up and taking control of the NFC South, there's surprisingly still a good chance that this team could make a run towards the playoffs.
Today, Head Coach Arthur Smith confirmed ahead of the Week 15 battle with the fourth placed New Orleans Saints that rookie Quarterback Desmond Ridder will take over as the starting Quarterback going forward, as the team has struggled in recent times with Marcus Mariota.
Ridder impressed in pre-season and has been looking solid in practice all season long, and with Marcus Mariota potentially heading to Injured Reserve, the future is officially now in Atlanta, as they look to continue their rebuild with a solid young QB and a potentially elite wide receiver as his top target.#Falcons coach Arthur Smith makes it official: Desmond Ridder will start moving forward, a decision he calls "performance-based." He adds that Marcus Mariota is getting his knee checked out and is likely headed to Injured Reserve. That explains the Logan Woodside signing.
