Titans Coach Arrested
The Tennessee Titans are celebrating a 27-17 Thursday Night Football win over the Green Bay Packers, but a Titans coach has apparently taken it too far. Offensive coordinator Todd Downing was arrested and charged with driving under the influence early Friday morning.
Downing coached the Titans offense to its game of the year Thursday night, setting season-highs in points, yards, and first downs. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was particularly deadly, netting 316 yards on only 30 dropbacks.Tennessee Titans Offensive Coordinator Todd Downing was arrested and charged with driving under the influence early Friday morning in Williamson County, hours after the Titans 27-17 win over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. https://t.co/lwrCgNKuaX

Before last night's sterling effort, the Titans offense had struggled for much of the season. They remain 30th in yards gained due in large part to their 29th ranking in passing yards. Yesterday's huge game from Tannehill bodes well for their future.
Downing earned his offensive coordinator title in 2021 following two years as the Titans' tight ends coach. Given the persistent success of the Titans, he was in line for a future head coaching opportunity before this morning's incident. The Titans' two previous offensive coordinators Arthur Smith and Matt LaFleur currently coach the Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers.
