Texans Rule Out Young Receiver For Thursday Night Football
The Houston Texans season has gone from bad to worse in recent times, and with just 1 win on the season thus far, it's clear that they are strong contenders to get the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. It hasn't been all bad however, as they've seen strong developmental seasons from the likes of Derek Stingley Jr. and Dameon Piece, but one name that flies heavily under the radar is 23-year old wide receiver Nico Collins.
After 446 yards as a rookie in 2021, he's backed that up by hauling in 18 catches for 305 yards thus far in 2022, on pace to improve in every way in his sophomore campaign, but unfortunately for Houston, along with marking Brandin Cooks as questionable, they ruled out the young receiver for Thursday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Collins will be a big loss, as he's been a solid, dependable target for Davis Mills all year long, and with such a tough matchup on primetime upcoming, this was the last thing the team needed. There will be plenty of changes made in Houston if they are to continue their rebuild going forward, but with Stingley, Pierce and other young pieces like John Metchie who could return in 2023, Nico Collins will play a big part for this team going forward.Texans ruled out WR Nico Collins for Thursday night game vs. Eagles and are listing WR Brandin Cooks as questionable.
