The team was reported to release Jackson III if they couldn't get a deal done before the 4 PM deadline, but now they'll acquire something in return for him.
The thirty-year-old cornerback has appeared in just four games for the Commanders this season, recording 16 total tackles (15 solo) and two passes defended.
The former 1st-round pick won't by any means to be a superstar for the Steelers, but he brings six seasons of experience and some solid depth for the club. It's a low-risk addition for the Steelers, which is trying to improve it's defense, while Washington moves on from a player who simply was not fitting in with the team.
The Steelers and Commanders are expected to swap late-round future picks in the trade for Jackson III, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
