Panthers Release Quarterback From Practice Squad

The Carolina Panthers Quarterback position has been a mess for several years now, and after how poorly Baker Mayfield and PJ Walker have performed this year, it's hard to see what the future holds at the position going forward. The team also activated Sam Darnold off Injured Reserve today, meaning that they will likely have three Quarterbacks on the active roster going forward, and unfortunately for young Jacob Eason, that means there was no room for him on the practice squad, and the team have subsequently released him.

The former Washington QB was drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, and has also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, and in his brief three-year career, has thrown just 10 passes, with 0 Touchdowns and 2 Interceptions between them, and what was considered a bright young future is now up in the air.

Carolina will have plenty of decisions to make at the QB position going forward, but it's become clear that in 2022, they have three QB's that they're looking to choose from, and unfortunately, that leaves no room for a talented young player, who will now be looking for his fourth team in just his third season at the NFL level.
