Giants Working On Extension With Starting Safety
Despite the loss in Week 8, the New York Giants are off to a fantastic start in 2022, with a 6-2 record through eight weeks, and while they may not be considered a heavyweight in the NFC due to several holes on their roster, they are certainly tough to beat. One of the main reasons for that is their solid defensive unit, and today, news broke that the team are looking to extend one of their key starters in the form of Safety Julian Love.
Love is a team captain and a fantastic leader, and the 2019 fourth round draft pick has been solid for this team since the day they drafted him, so an extension is the next logical step in this successful partnership. Throughout his career, Love has racked up 225 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 4 interceptions, 15 pass deflections, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries, and while no one will see him as a Pro Bowl caliber player, he's exactly what this Giants team need at the back end of their defence. The #Giants and starting Safety Julian Love are working on a contract extension, per @PLeonardNYDN

Love is a team captain and a versatile player on the 6-2 Giants defense. He has 225 career tackles, 4 INTs and 1.5 sacks. https://t.co/SSydxmojvx pic.twitter.com/YhxEt0x8gz
It's not clear when a deal will get done, but right now, it looks very likely to happen over the next few weeks, and if Love and this Giants team can continue playing the way they have thus far, they'll have a solid shot at a playoff spot in 2022.
