Chicago Bears Officially Place Two Stars on Injured Reserve
The Chicago Bears' roller coaster year may finally be running out of steam. The team officially placed safety Eddie Jackson and wide receiver Darnell Mooney on injured reserve earlier today, likely ending their seasons.
Mooney suffered an ankle injury in the Bears' Week 12 31-10 loss to the New York Jets. His 493 receiving yards are the most of any Bears pass catcher this year. His 1055 receiving yards in 2021 also led the Bears. We have placed Darnell Mooney & Eddie Jackson on IR and promoted A.J. Thomas from the practice squad to the active roster.@Hyundai | #DaBearshttps://t.co/cn2UKt3kTR

Jackson suffered a lisfranc injury later on in the same game. He led the Bears in tackles through 12 games this season, and his four interceptions were more than double any other defender on the squad. He has two Pro Bowls and one All-Pro to his credit.
Mooney and Jackson are perhaps the Bears' two best and most-established playmakers, with the exception of perhaps second-year quarterback Justin Fields. With nine losses in their 12 games this year, the Bears can probably declare their season a wash.
