Chargers Wide Receivers Expected Back for Sunday Night Football
The Los Angeles Chargers could be peaking at just the right time. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports wide receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen both expect to play in tonight's crucial Sunday Night Football matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Williams has been absent since injuring his ankle in the Chargers' 37-23 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7. Allen has been largely unavailable since tweaking his hamstring in the team's season-opening 24-19 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, only briefly returning for 23 snaps against the Seahawks before reaggravating his injury.Chargers’ WR Keenan Allen, who has played in only two games this season due to his hamstring injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday night, has said he plans to play, but that coaches will make the final call.

Williams and Allen's struggles to stay on the field have coincided with a regression for the Chargers offense this season. After finishing fifth in scoring last season, the team finds itself 16th this year, and third-year quarterback Justin Herbert has seen his passer rating fall from 97.7 in 2021 to 89.0 through nine games in 2022.
With Williams and Allen potentially back in the fold, the Chargers should have an opportunity at revenge against their division-leading AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs tonight. The Chiefs snatched a hard-fought 27-24 win over the Chargers in Week 2 but are expected to be without two of their top wide receivers for Sunday Night Football.
