Bucs Safety Remains In Concussion Protocol, Questionable For Sunday
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowls revealed Wednesday that their safety Antoine Winfield Jr. remains in concussion protocol, but is making progress, according to The Athletic's Greg Auman.
Winfield Jr. was spotted in the locker room, which indicates he will participate in practice on Wednesday to some extent, Auman adds.
Winfield Jr., who suffered a head injury in the third quarter against the Bucs' 21-3 defeat to the Panthers in Week 7, was ruled out for TNF vs. the Ravens the following week as well. His status remains in question ahead of Week 9, but the Bucs (3-5) could definitely use their Pro Bowl defensive back's services as they try to wipe their three-game losing streak against the defending Super Bowl champions, Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
The 24-year-old safety has 221 combined tackles (160 solo and 61 assisted), three QB hits, and one forced interceptions so far in his 2022-23 campaign.
