Young Colts Receiver Clears Waivers, Returns To Practice Squad

The Indianapolis Colts have struggled so far in 2022, particularly on offence with Jonathan Taylor, who has been ruled out in Week 5, so it was a strange move when yesterday, the team decided to waive young wide receiver Dezmon Patmon, who's flashed plenty of potential during his young career in Indianapolis. He hasn't put up the numbers many expected so far in his career, as his opportunities have been severely limited, but today, in a shocking turn of events, no one claimed the young 24-year old, who has now returned to the Colts practice squad.

Patmon was a sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and despite the good things he reportedly does at practice, he's not yet consistently found playing time at the NFL level, and apparently that was enough for other teams to not take a chance on him.

The Colts have a talented young group, led by Michael Pittman Jr., and if they can get going, this could be a very good team in the AFC, but because of their slow start, they need to get it going soon if they are to compete in the AFC South. Patmon may play a role in that, but right now, he's back to the Colts practice squad, providing this team much needed depth, especially given the injury bug that seems to be plaguing the entire NFL right now.
