Two Stars Miss Practice for Detroit Lions
The league's top-ranked scoring offense could be without its two best players yet again for Week 5. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and running back D'Andre Swift missed practice Thursday for the Detroit Lions ahead of Sunday's matchup with the New England Patriots.
Brown and Swift both missed Week 4 with their injuries. In spite of their unavailability, the Lions scored 45 points against the Seattle Seahawks, albeit in defeat. With the Patriots potentially missing their top two quarterbacks, it's possible the Lions are exercising caution with their two young stars in a game they think they're already good enough to win. The Lions have their bye in Week 6, which would give Brown and Swift plenty of time to get over their ailments. The #Lions say WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) and RB D'Andre Swift (shoulder/ankle) did not participate in practice on Thursday.

Fresh off his first career 100 yard receiving game, too. The breakout is upon us. 🙌 #OnePride pic.twitter.com/BF8b4M4F1j
Brown joined the Lions as their 112th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and promptly rewarded their investment with 90 receptions and 912 receiving yards as a rookie. He sports 321 yards from scrimmage in three games so far in 2022.
The Lions nabbed Smith with the 35th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He's been perhaps the league's most explosive back when healthy this year, averaging a league-leading 8.6 yards per attempt on his 27 carries.
