Texans Edge Rusher Set to Return From Injured Reserve
The Houston Texans defense could be getting a much-needed boost in the near future. Edge rusher Mario Addison is expected to return to practice this week following his early season stint on injured reserve.
The news was shared by Texans defensive end Jon Greenard during a Tuesday media availability. Addison had been placed on IR following the 53-man roster cutdown with a thigh injury. He joined the Texans this past May on a two-year, $7.7 million contract following a two-year run with the Buffalo Bills in which he collected 12 sacks in 32 appearances.Texans defensive end Jon Greenard expects Mario Addison back this week from injured reserve.

Addison was a bit of a late bloomer in the NFL, notching a mere four starts before turning 30 years old. He eventually carved out a niche for himself as an effective rotational pass rusher, tallying an impressive 63.5 sacks over his past eight seasons, including 7.0 on only 482 snaps in 2021. He should provide some pass-rushing juice to a Texans defense that ranks 29th in yards allowed over their 0-3-1 start to the season.DE Jonathan Greenard on veteran Mario Addison, eligible to return from IR this week 👀 & being a guy he’s learned a lot from #Texans pic.twitter.com/RzJRKfeROu
