Thomas has returned to practice following the quadriceps injury he suffered in August, and the team will now have 21 days to either add him to the active roster or leave him on the IR for the rest of the season.
The twenty-six-year-old should serve as an option at nickelback on defensive packages and operate as a special-teams ace when healthy.
Last season, Thomas recorded 86 tackles, four passes defended and two interceptions over 17 games.
