Rams Running Back Out In Week 6

The Los Angeles Rams have been uncharacteristically sloppy through five weeks in 2022, with a 2-3 record that isn't befitting of their status as defending Super Bowl Champions, and with a winnable game agains the Carolina Panthers up next, the last thing this team needed was for key players to be missing games. Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp both missed practice earlier in the week, but seem to be on track to play, but one name that won't be around on Sunday is Cam Akers, who Head Coach Sean McVay revealed would not be available for the Week 6 matchup.

There was no reason given for Akers' absence from the game, with McVay being very vague about the reasoning behind it, stating that "we're working through some things", and while the rest of this story will play out over the coming weeks, it's clear that Darrell Henderson is now the No. 1 back in Los Angeles.

Through five weeks in 2022, Akers has just 51 carries for 151 yards, which isn't getting it done for the defending Super Bowl Champions, and while Henderson hasn't fared much better, there's clearly something happening behind the scenes here. We will find that out eventually, but for now, the Rams have confirmed that Cam Akers won't be practicing the rest of this week and won't be available to battle the Carolina Panthers in Week 6.
