Patriots Rule Out Two Players For Week 8
The New England Patriots have ruled out starting center David Andrews and defensive lineman Christian Barmore ahead of Sunday's AFC East matchup against the New York Jets.
Andrews remains in concussion protocol after sustaining a head injury in Week 7's 33-14 blowout defeat against the Chicago Bears. Barmore is sidelined with a knee injury, and the Patriots removed both wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (toe) and guard Mike Onwenu from their injury report.
The New England club has seven players listed as questionable ahead of Sunday including WR Nelson Agholor (hamstring), S Kyle Dugger (ankle), LB Anfernee Jennings (calf), S Adrian Phillips (shoulder), LB Josh Uche (hamstring), and T Isaiah Wynn (shoulder).
The Patriots also declared quarterback Mac Jones as their starter for Sunday earlier this week with suspicions looming regarding a potential quarterback controversy after head coach Bill Belichick benched Jones and opted for QB Bailey Zappe in the first quarter in their previous MNF campaign.
Jones reportedly took 90% of practice reps on Wednesday, which indicated his potential start ahead of Week 8. Zappe had previously led the Patriots to a 2-0 record when Jones was sidelined for three games due to an ankle injury.
The Patriots (3-4) rank last in the AFC East and are looking for a statement victory on Sunday against their divisional rival Jets, who currently reside second with a 5-2 record.
