Panthers Quarterback to Miss Some Time
Further tests and opinions will determine how long Mayfield is expected to be sidelined, but this appears to set up P.J. Walker for a Week 6 start against the Los Angeles Rams.
#Panthers QB Baker Mayfield suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday’s game, sources say. That means he’ll miss time, but how much will be determined by more tests and opinions. PJ Walker in line to start at QB this week vs. the #Rams.

Mayfield was seen in a walking boot after Sunday's 37-15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. However, X-rays came back negative on his foot earlier Monday morning.
With Sam Darnold still unavailable, the Panthers are in an awkward spot heading into Week 6. The team is currently 1-4.
Through five games, Mayfield has thrown 962 passing yards for four touchdowns and four interceptions. Mayfield was acquired by the Panthers from the Cleveland Browns this past summer.
