NFL Rumors: Chargers Wide Receiver Injures Ankle
The Los Angeles Chargers finally saw the return of their injured wide receiver in Week 7 just in time for them to lose another. Wide receiver Mike Williams exited in the fourth quarter of the team's 37-23 loss to the Seattle Seahawks with what is being described as an ankle sprain.
Williams twisted his ankle underneath a tackler on a fourth-down reception while down 30-16 midway through the fourth quarter. He ended the game with seven receptions for 86 yards and one touchdown.Mike Williams told me in the locker room that he has a sprained right ankle. MRI and other tests tomorrow to determine the full severity/specifics.

"I'm gonna be back," Williams said. https://t.co/iNilmmgZR5
Williams apparently assured reporters and teammates the injury wasn't season-ending, but further testing will certainly be required before that can be settled. In any case, he'll likely miss time, and he could be in line for a stop on injured reserve.
Without Williams, the Chargers will need returning wide receiver Keenan Allen to step up. Allen made his long-awaited return from a hamstring injury in Week 7, nabbing both his targets for 11 yards. His lack of involvement indicates he may not be all the way back, but the Chargers may no longer have the luxury of slow-playing his recovery. Third-year quarterback Justin Herbert has averaged a minuscule 4.42 net yards per passing attempt over the last two weeks.
